Provost first became interested in wine in the 1960s while attending graduate school at New York University. In 1967 he returned to Western Massachusetts and spent thirteen years as a Philosophy Professor at American International College. In 1972, while at the college, he and a colleague introduced New England's first academically rigorous wine appreciation course. Shortly thereafter, Provost wrote restaurant criticism for Springfield's metropolitan magazine, and then became wine and food editor of Springfield/Hartford Magazine. He entered the wine industry full-time in 1980 first as a Wine Supervisor for Branded Liquors of Westwood, MA, and later as Vice President/Wine Director for Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge, MA for the better part of nineteen years. He was subsequently inducted as Prudhomme in the 800-year old wine fraternity, The Jurade de Saint-Emilion, been welcomed as a distinguished member of the international Burgundy society, the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, and been praised as "one of the country's great wine merchants" by Robert M. Parker, Jr., author of The Wine Advocate.

Provost has been an active supporter of public television having appeared frequently on PBS' WGBH/2 and WGBY/57 live, on air, wine auctions. For the last three years Provost has served as WGBY's wine consultant for Roy Scott's locally produced weekly cooking show, On The Menu. He has also served on the wine committee of CPTV, Connecticut's public television affiliate. An indefatigable pilgrim to the world's wine regions, Provost has toured extensively the vineyards of Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Africa and Spain, as well as those of California, Ontario, Oregon, New York, Virginia and Washington. His university lecture circuit has included guest appearances at Hampshire College, Nichols College, Springfield College, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. A frequent judge at wine tastings, Provost served on the juried panel of the Oregon State Fair's Wine Competition.

He and his wife, Erline, reside in Wilbraham, MA.

Michael's career at began in 1996 when he was hired as a part-time wine associate. Over the course of the past decade, Michael was quickly promoted to full-time sales floor captain, sales manager and is currently Wine Sales Manager.

Michael has traveled to many vineyards around the world including, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Italy, France, Austria and Canada's Ontario region. Michael believes it is this kind of knowledge and experience that makes stand out above the rest. He also regularly attends countless trade events and wine fairs. His ability to identify up-and-coming wine regions, excellent wine values and his exceptional knowledge of the wine industry as a whole has made Table and Vine a unique destination for wine connoisseurs' nation-wide.

Michael's favorite types of wine include Spanish, Red Burgundy and both German and Austrian wines.

He resides in Northampton, MA with his wife and two boys.

James G. Alamed

Jim's career at Big Y began in 1987 when he was hired as an Assistant Grocery Manager in the newly opened Greenfield store. Prior to Big Y, Jim spent ten years in various positions with the A&P supermarket chain. Jim was promoted to Grocery Manager after a few years with Big Y. In 2001, Jim was promoted to Night Manager, which led to his selection to Big Y's Store Manager training program in 2004.

Jim completed the program in about nine months; training in each sales department in combination with formal training classes and seminars conducted at the corporate office. Upon completion of the training program, Jim was assigned to the Northampton supermarket as Assistant Store Manager.

In September 2005, Jim was offered the position of Store Manager. Constantly seeking new opportunities, Jim accepted this position in the world of fine wines, specialty foods, spirits and beers. Jim brings his operational and customer service skills to the liquor division. He is eager to learn all he can from his colleagues and customers. Jim looks forward to serving all of your needs, whether entertaining guests, giving a gift or simply planning a quiet evening at home.

Jim currently resides in Chicopee, Massachusetts with his wife Patrice. They have seven children and three grandchildren. Jim is a baseball and football fan; he enjoys photography, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
